MOSCOW. June 22 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov
has confirmed there is information that Islamic extremists were involved
in the mass riots in the eastern Uzbek city of Andizhan in May.
"We have been sharing information [about the events]. Not only our
special services, but also other states' special services have
evidence," Lavrov told a news conference after a session of the
Collective Security Treaty Organization Council of Foreign Ministers in
Moscow on Wednesday.
"Not only Collective Security Treaty Organization states, but also
Western states" have this information, the minister said.
